Cancellation & Refund Policy

Safaris in Ranthambore run on government permits, not on a booking system we control. This page sets out, plainly, what happens to your payment once a booking is placed — before you confirm one with us.

How booking works

The basics that the rest of this policy builds on.

  • Safari fees are paid in full, in advance, to secure a booking.
  • A confirmed booking is tied to the ID submitted at the time of booking and cannot be transferred to another person.
  • Zones for Jeep and Canter safaris are allotted subject to availability on the day — we can’t commit to a specific zone in advance.

Confirmed bookings

The rule that applies once your safari permit has been issued.

Standard policyOnce a booking is confirmed and the permit issued, it is final. There is no cancellation, refund, or rescheduling on a confirmed booking, under any circumstances — including a change of plans, a missed train or flight, or a delay in reaching the park.

By completing payment, you’re agreeing to this. It’s worth building some slack into your travel plans, since a permit — once issued by the forest department — cannot be handed back.

Tatkal cancellations

Tatkal bookings sit in a queue for confirmation, so a different rule applies before that confirmation comes through.

A Tatkal request doesn’t guarantee a permit — it’s a same-day or next-day attempt, and confirmation depends on availability. Two situations can come up:

Situations
Safari couldn’t be booked at all (no permit issued) 100% (Gypsy & Canter Both)
You cancel before the booking is confirmed 75% (Gypsy) & 65% (Canter)

Once a Tatkal booking is confirmed and the permit is issued, it moves into the standard no-refund policy above. Confirmation timelines: Gypsy Tatkal is typically confirmed up to 6 days ahead; Canter Tatkal is confirmed one day ahead for morning slots and same-day for evening slots.

Monsoon & weather closures

A separate, slightly more forgiving rule for the rainy season.

If the park is closed for heavy rain, or you cancel before your booking is confirmed during monsoon, we refund 75% for Gypsy bookings and 65% for Canter bookings — the same tiers as a pre-confirmation Tatkal cancellation.

This doesn’t extend to a booking where the permit has already been issued. At that point, the standard no-refund rule applies, weather included.

Forest department closures

Some things sit entirely outside a booking agent’s control.

  • The park can be closed by forest officials without prior notice or stated reason.
  • Zones 1–5 close every Tuesday; Zones 6–10 close every Wednesday.
  • Entry timings are set by the forest department and can change without notice.
  • A safari delayed or cancelled for weather is not eligible for a refund outside the monsoon policy above.

Wild Enthusiast is a private eco-tourism agency, registered with the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Rajasthan. We facilitate bookings — we don’t set park rules, and we can’t override a forest department decision.

Fees & price revisions

What the convenience fee covers, and what happens if the government rate changes.

  • We charge a convenience fee on top of the government safari ticket price, for handling the booking on your behalf. This typically ranges from ₹1,500 to ₹10,000 per Jeep or Canter booking, depending on season and zone.
  • If the government revises safari fees after your booking, or your group has incomplete occupancy, the difference is payable at the park entry gate.
  • We’d encourage you to check safari pricing before booking — once a booking is placed, the fees charged aren’t open to renegotiation.

What we can’t control

A short, honest list — set here so there’s no ambiguity later.

  • Wildlife sightings aren’t guaranteed. Tigers move through 400+ sq. km of forest on their own schedule, not ours.
  • Safari zones are allotted on the day, subject to availability — we can’t promise a specific zone.
  • Once you’ve boarded, we’re not able to resolve issues like a vehicle breakdown, a guide’s conduct, or a safari cut short by the driver — these sit with the park’s on-ground operations, not with us.
  • Safaris can also be booked directly at the forest department’s ticket window, subject to availability, independent of anything we facilitate.
